Carolina Basagni was born in Arezzo in 1964 and began to study ballet at 8 years old. At a young age, Evgheni Polyakov, artistic director of Teatro Comunale di Firenze, was impressed by her talent and invited her to join the company. In that period she started to distinguish itself whitin the group and she danced in several solo roles such as “Giselle” alongside Carla Fracci, Rudolf Nureyev and in the “La Silfide” whit Peter Schaufuss. At 17 she was awarded a scholarship to study at the School of American Ballet (SAB) in New York.
In 1984 she joined London Festival Ballet (now English National Ballet) and she interpreted many roles as soloist. In 1987 was invited to return to Italy as a principal dancer whit Aterballetto. During this time she danced in numerous classic, neoclassic and contemporary choreographies by Balanchine, Tetley, Alvin Ailey, Bigonzetti, Amodio.
She currently works as a teacher and Artistic Director of her own school beside her husband Fabrizio Betti who was a dancer also in many international companies.
Gianni Bruschi is one of the founding members of Spazio Seme in Arezzo (Tuscany) where he is artistic director and where he teaches theatre, voice, and expressive movement. A singer and actor, he has trained with many Italian and foreign artists. He directs ensemble work related to voice, theatre, and dance in the Italian expressive culture, and he has held concerts in festivals around Italy and various Mediterranean countries such as France, Egypt, Albania, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Spain and India. He studied Belcanto and Opera with Slavka Taskova Paloetti, with whom he collaborate at the Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo. He got a degree in Italian Litarature and history of the theatre at Siena’s University; he got the status of “expert of education” on professional profile of Tuscany Region related to European Community. He is achieving a degree as a counselor at the Institute of Psychosynthesis of Roberto Assagioli in Florence.
André Casaca is one of the most popular professionals of physical theatre and clown in Italy. He’s Brazilian and a resident of Italy since 1995. The Lume Teatro (Lume Theatre – Campinas, Brazil) and Yves Lebreton were fundamental to his preparation and formation. Actor, theatrical researcher, clown, director, and founder of the method called “Body Comic Identity”.
Engaged in theatre for more than 25 years, his artistic and pedagogic method is recognized in Italy and abroad in university theatrical studies. Actor, director, scholar, and theatre educator, Giangiacomo Colli received his formal acting and directing training with two of the major figures of post-World War II Italian theatre, Vittorio Gassman and Orazio Costa. An accomplished practitioner of Commedia dell’Arte, he was introduced to this popular form of theatre by his father, a renowned theatre and television director, and then perfected his skills under Carlo Boso. His theatre formation also includes workshops with Joseph Chaikin, Shiro Nomura, Jerzy Grotowski, and Chuck Mike, among others.
Alongside his professional career, Giangiacomo graduated from the University of Rome in theatre history, received an M.F.A. in directing from the University of Hawaii, and a Ph.D. in drama from the University of Toronto. He has taught in Canada at the University of Toronto, Sheridan College, and Brock University, and in the US, at Franklin & Marshall College, Texas State University-San Marcos, and Middlebury College. Since 2014, in Italy, he has collaborated with the Master of Social Theatre at the University of Rome; the Training Course for Actors “Orazio Costa” at the Pergola Theatre, in Florence; the Rome–based association Teatroavista; and has developed his own devising technique, Il fattore umano, based on collaborative dramaturgy. Giangiacomo is also the author of a volume on Orazio Costa’s holistic acting training, a few articles, and an educational play on Commedia dell’Arte.

Chiara D’Anna is an Italian actor, director, lecturer and Commedia dell’Arte specialist with over 20 years of experience. She trained in Italy, Poland and the UK. Her work on the contemporaneity of Commedia dell’Arte culminated in her PhD “A Journey back Home: The Legacy of Commedia dell’Arte in Post-dramatic Theatre with particular focus on the centrality of the Actor in Devised Performance” (The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design- London Metropolitan University 2014-18). She regularly teaches and runs workshops/masterclasses on Commedia dell’Arte and Physical Theatre at RADA, East15 Acting School, Rose Bruford College and the National Centre of Circus Arts. As Associate Artist of the research group ‘The Quick & the Dead’ she worked for over eight years in developing a new methodology for Actor Training known as the ‘Core Training’. The outcome of this research was published by Routledge in a DVD-pamphlet: ‘Core Training For the Relational Actor’ (2013) and documented by Peter Hulton for the Exeter Arts Archives. Chiara is co-founder of Natural You Dance, a movement meditation practice that draws on Yoga, dance, physical theatre and meditation.
Theatre, Commedia dell'Arte
Elena de Renzio teaches dance, physical theatre, traditional Italian songs and clown. She is also a dancer and stage actress who has worked primarily in Italy and Paris. In Paris she worked closely with clown masters Philippe Gaulier, Michel Dallaire, and Philippe Hottier. Elena has a diploma in Theatre from the Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle and in Psychosomatic Pedagogy. As an actress and dancer she was in numerous productions with Robert Wilson, Raffaella Giordano, Danielle Labaki, Isabelle Dubouloz, Pierre Doussaint, Nathalie Garraud and Stephane Olry. She created “Ah!Ah!” a solo physical theatre/clownesco with a grant from Junge Hunde EU that toured in Italy and France. She performed in concert with “Nuda Voce,” a duet of traditional Italian songs at numerous festivals.
She has worked as a physical theatre and dance teacher with a trans-disciplinary approach that integrates movement, voice and touch as a gestural theatrical language in which practical somatics and energetics are combined with special attention to improvisation and the techniques of the clown.
Elena was an acting teacher for many years in the school of Philippe Gaulier and a dance teacher with Sosta Palmizi. She has been involved in projects of international cooperation in Algeria, Mozambique and in the Philippines with Clowns Without Boarders in collaboration with Wolfgang Fasser.

Alessandra Faienza is a professional italian mask maker.
She studied at the Art School and then she got a degree in Archeology in Padua, Italy.
Since she was a child she has been loving theater and dance, that she practiced for fifteen years.
Through her first dance teacher she met the mask maker Donato Sartori, who suddenly became her master. After the Academic Studies she attended Sartori’s leather mask construction school and embarked on an apprenticeship at a mask lab in Milan. After two years, she was ready to start her professional activity as a mask maker. She is in constant search for shapes, materials and colors, working with the classic leather, the crazy latex, the fabric -with which she makes masks and wigs- and her beloved Worbla, a thermoplastic material on which she is experimenting new shapes and crafts. Sometimes she likes to explore the construction of simple mechanical puppets and wigs.

Erik Flatmo is known internationally for his design work in contemporary dance with the choreographer Trajal Harrell with whom he has created numerous world premiere productions in theaters, festivals, galleries and museums spanning the globe. Additionally, he has designed scenery for numerous theater, dance and opera productions within the United States, establishing artistic relationships with San Francisco’s The Magic Theater, where he has designed the scenery for more than twenty original productions by American playwrights, and American Conservatory Theater, where he worked with directors such as Bill Irwin and Carey Perloff on the historic Beaux Arts stage of the Geary Theater. He taught scenic design for fifteen years as a faculty member of Stanford University’s Department of Theater & Performance Studies. Prior to joining Stanford, he taught at Barnard College in New York City. He holds a BA in architecture from Columbia University and an MFA in design from the Yale School of Drama. He received a certificate of advanced study in scenography from the POLI.design program at the Politecnico di Milano in 2020. Born and raised in Palo Alto, California, Erik is of Italian descent, speaks Italian and currently lives in Milan. Samuel Angus McGehee 1987, originally from Boston, grew up in Tuscany where from a young age was engaged in music, street circus and philosophy. Sam studied clarinet performance with Igor Begelman and philosophy with Marina Vitkin at Sarah Lawrence College NYC. He also studied sitar with Rajesh Shah and philosophy with Shashank Srivastava at Benaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. Sam holds an MFA in physical theatre from the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Sam’s interdisciplinary approach has brought him to collaborate with a variety of people including painters, dancers, poets, musicians, actors, and researchers. So far Samuel has performed in Italy, Germany, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Switzerland and India; he has also taught in many of these places. Sam was original member of experimental rock band Sycamore Age (IT), and was member of physical theatre company Divadlo Continuo (CZ). He is founder of Broken Jump Theatre and experimental duo Zvukulàska; he also lectures on Indian philosophy at Florence University of the Arts. Sam continues to pursue a variety of collaborations with other artists; he is interested in poetry, composed theatre, experimental music and movement. Samuel has also always remained for better or worse a devout student of metaphysics.

Giorgio Rossi co-founded Sosta Palmizi in 1984, an association under which, in 30 years, have worked more than 400 dancers and performers. More than 30 productions, which have exceeded 1500 replicas, he has traveled around the world, thanks to the universality of the poetic art of movement.
Mitsuru Sasaki was born in Japan in 1944. In 1965 he studied Ballet under Hironobu Oikawa and Midori Takato, and Butho with Kazuo Ohno. In 1980, Mitsuru joined Folkwang Tanzstudio, a graduate program at Folkwang University in Germany, as a dancer and choreographer. Founded by Kurt Jooss, this program was also home to other dance moguls such as Pina Bausch, Reinhild Hoffmann, and Susanne Linke. Mitsuru studied modern dance with Hans Züllig, ballet with Brian Bertscher, and modern technique with Jean Cebron at Folkwang University. In 1988, he founded SASAKI Dance Co. Since 2005 he has been responsible for the contemporary Butoh class at the Accademia dell’Arte.

Ginevra Scaglia was trained at the Ecole Internationale de Théatre Jacques Lecoq graduating in 1996. Subsequently she specialized in Movement Studies at LEM, Ecole Jacques Lecoq and followed a series of workshops with notable practitioners including Pierre Byland and Phillippe Gaulier (clown), Théatre de Complicité and Théatre du Soleil.
She is a co-founder of Ishka Theatre Company in Dublin and PlayEnglish Theatre Company in Torino. She has performed in Physical Theatre performances on tour in Ireland, the UK, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Belgium and China: “Red Day” with Ishka Theatre company was presented at the Dublin Fringe Festival, The London Mime Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. In collaboration with Paola Valla she directed “Romeo and Giulietta” for Sinequanon Company, which toured extensively in Italy (Sardinia, Piedmonte and Aosta).
As a teacher she has led workshops and long term training modules in Torino (Atelier Teatro Fisico Philip Radice, Quinta Tinta Impro School, Columbus Cionema Acting School) as well as in Dublin (Down to Earth Theatre Company). In 2013 she was appointed as Pedagogical Assistant at the Ecole de Theatre Jacques Lecoq.

Alessio Trevisani, Germanist, Choreographer, Director, Performer. Recently founded his international company: the Freies Tanz Ensemble. Former member of Tanzfabrik Company, co-initiated in 2000 the Sox36 in Berlin Kreuzberg. 2003 won the German dance prize for best solo. He gained important artistic experience with the composer K. Stockhausen at Leipzig Opera and working in NY in 2005. 2007 was resident choreographer at Palucca Schule/ Tanzplan Dresden. 2006-10 created 4 works for the mixed able Theater Thikwa. 2011-18 created 8 successful works directing Leipziger Tanztheater.

Sašo Vollmaier is a pianist, composer, performer and teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 2008 – professor of piano. In 2005 he met PanTheatre (France). He joined the Slovenian avant-garde music group Laibach in 2007 – 2013 as a keyboard player. In 2013 he moved to France where he meets Viviane Gay, an actress with whom he started developing his presence on the stage as a performer trough his voice, movement and music. The voice work brought him to Malérargues (France) again where he started to give classes, collaborating with other voice teachers and giving the concerts and performances. In the same year he begins to direct the performance called “Generation”. This project allows him to meet the Roy Hart Theatre in terms of the power of the presence, fragility, expression, authenticity, curiosity…
Vollmaier teaches musical aspects, encourages the students to invent their own language, working on presence, voice and movement. In 2014 he started to collaborate with Susanne Weins – performance artist, giving the voice/movement workshops in Düsseldorf and creating their own theatre productions (Bewegte Oktaven, Fragile Breath, Melancholia,…) most of them directed by Sabine Seume. He works as a voice teacher mainly in France, Germany, Italy and Brazil.
“Electric Unicorn” is the name of electro-acoustic project created by three completely different personalities (I. Leitinger, L. Jamnik, S. Vollmaier) in 2013 with different musical backgrounds.
Vollmaier’s accomplishments include theatre and cartoon scores, choral arrangements, marching orchestras, big bands, playing as a studio musician (Laibach, Bratko Bibič, Silence, Funtango, radio/TV broadcastings,…)
