The Summer Physical Theatre Intensive is an opportunity to engage in three weeks of training, collaboration, and creation in the area generally known as physical theatre. While physical theatre is a broad category that covers a wide field, we can say that in all cases it includes a heightened focus on the expressive body. For those who have had some exposure to physical theatre and would like to deepen their experience or those who would like to experience it for the first time, the summer intensive is a perfect opportunity to open a broader perspective on theatrical forms and styles of acting.
Each morning, students begin with Physical Preparation & Contact Improvisation followed by Commedia dell’Arte or The Theatrical Clown (students choose one or the other). In the afternoon session, students participate in either Leather Mask-making or Devising Laboratory: Composed Theatre. Evenings will include lectures, films and discussions. This course is worth an optional 3 hour credit.
