This course provides an in-depth study of clowning, focusing on recognition of the comic through personal gestuality. The aim is for students to develop their Comic Identity of the Body, rediscovering simplicity, tenderness, and strength to create an authentic connection with both the stage and the audience.
The course emphasizes the importance of embracing inherent folly—a key quality in clowning. Rather than transforming into a foolish character, students will learn to perceive the world with a sense of wonder and use their vulnerability as a powerful tool for comedic expression. Through a series of exercises, games, and improvisations, students will explore and refine their unique comic aspects, stripping away societal concepts to reveal an authentic performance.
