Visa and passport information
Ensuring you have the proper travel documents in order is one the first steps in your application process. Should you have any questions about your passport or visa status, please reach out to us!
If you are a national from a country outside the EU wishing to visit or travel within the EU, you will need a valid passport and possibly a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the EU and it must have been issued within the last 10 years. This means your travel document must have been issued within the previous 10 years the day you enter the EU on condition that it is valid until the end of your stay plus an additional 3 months.
NO if you are an EU passport holder.
NO if you are enrolled in our Summer Programs (up to 90 days stay).
NO if you are a national of a country exempted from issuing a Schengen visa for stays up to 90 days.
Please check this link to see if your county is exempted: https://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en
YES if you are enrolled in our Semester (more than 90 days stay).
YES if you are a national of a country NOT exempted from issuing a Schengen visa for stays up to 90 days.
Students can apply for a STUDY VISA at their local embassy or consulate. Your local Italian embassy or consulate is the embassy or consulate that has jurisdiction over the area of your permanent residence or the address of your home school.
It is the responsibility of each student participating in a semester program to obtain a study visa.
The Visa Office at the Accademia will provide help, information, and letters of support, which students will present to the Consulate with their application and additional materials.
Additional materials you will most likely need to provide to your local Italian Consulate may include:
Your passport
Bank statements
Passport photos
Proof of airline reservation (return ticket)
Proof of health insurance valid in Italy
Home school enrolment verification letter
Official home institution transcript
Before you get started, we recommend that you check with the study abroad office at your home institution to find out whether they can handle Visa processing directly.
Students should submit a visa application at least 3 months before their program starts.
Since the visa process is fairly long, we encourage you to get started right after you receive your acceptance letter.
Check your local embassy or consulate website to schedule an appointment, should it be necessary.
Our visa office can provide support and materials to help you in your visa application process, but please note that requirements of local embassies and consulates may differ. It is solely your responsibility to understand conditions and requirements for your student visa application.
Please email visas@dellarte.it with any questions you may have about the visa application process or to receive a template and supporting materials to aid you in your visa application.
